OLLI at Pitt is moving to Alumni Hall!

OLLI at Pitt is excited to announce a move to a larger space that will better meet the needs of our members.

Effective mid-April 2024, OLLI at Pitt’s office will be located in B40 Alumni Hall. Alumni Hall is located on Fifth Avenue, across the street from the Cathedral of Learning and just one block away from the Soldiers & Sailors parking garage.

This move keeps OLLI in the heart of the vibrant Pitt campus while offering a dedicated classroom for OLLI classes, a larger lounge area, additional member computer workstations, and more space for our staff.

As of mid-April 2024, OLLI at Pitt members and visitors will go to B40 Alumni Hall; members and visitors should not go to Posvar Hall. An exact date, as well as any changes or delays to this move date, will be communicated to members and updated in this announcement.

Why is OLLI at Pitt moving?

OLLI staff have (excitedly!) outgrown the space in Posvar Hall. The new space provides us with more room for staff and members, including more computer workstations, a bigger lounge area, and a dedicated classroom for OLLI classes.

Additionally, the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is repurposing the current OLLI space for its academic needs. The move to Alumni Hall allows us to be closer to our Office of Engagement and Community Affairs colleagues, whose offices are already in Alumni Hall, and continue our collaborative work in bringing OLLI to more members of the Pittsburgh community.

When will the move occur?

Our goal is to move without any disruption of service to OLLI members; OLLI at Pitt will be located on B40 Alumni Hall effective mid-April 2024, after the conclusion of the Spring Term.

To get to B40, enter Alumni Hall through one of the three entrances (on Tennyson Ave., on Fifth Ave., or on Lytton Ave.) and take the elevator stairs down one floor. Head to or follow the signage to get to suite B40.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit (bus): Stop is at Fifth & Tennyson and is served by the 28X, 54, 58, 61A, 61B, 61C, 61D, 67, 69, 71A, 71B, 71C, 71D, 75, 81, 83, 93, and P3 routes.

Parking: Soldiers & Sailors parking garage is located at 4390 Bigelow Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, only one block away from our new home. As a reminder, members and visitors can use the Park Mobile app to reserve a spot in advance.

Will I still be able to go to Posvar Hall to meet with OLLI staff?

No, effective mid-April 2024, OLLI at Pitt staff will only be located in B40 Alumni Hall. Members and visitors should not go to OLLI's old office in Posvar Hall for assistance.

What is the new space like?

The new space is larger than our existing space and we will be engaging in fundraising to undertake renovations that will make the space even better for our OLLI members. Excitingly, the new space will be only for OLLI at Pitt, and we will not need to share the new space with other units. In addition to the dedicated lounge and classroom, some of the renovations may include:

  • Addition of a kitchenette
  • Remodeling of classroom to remove sight barriers and add instructional technology
  • Paint and décor

Where will OLLI classes be held?

OLLI classes will continue to be held in the same University buildings that we currently utilize, including Lawrence Hall, the Cathedral of Learning, William Pitt Union, Pitt Public Health (Parran Hall), and Posvar Hall.

Our new space also has the potential for a dedicated classroom for OLLI classes, and we may also be able to offer classes in other rooms in Alumni Hall in the future.
